MTの営業マンが「我々のMTは、TOEIC９００点程度の精度です」等セールトークをするのでそのまま購入してしまったというクライアントさんは結構いらっしゃいます。しかし使ってみたら「全然使えない」と嘆いておられます。

様々な雑誌とかSNSとかで「どこどののMTを試したが使いものにならなかった」という不満をよく耳にします。

ここで議論すべきは「使えるか使えないか」の境界線を明確にすることでしょう。また「使える」という定義を明確にするべきです。

つまり弊社のスタッフはMTPEの経験は、２～３年あります。翻訳のベテランです。ゼロから翻訳できます。特定の分野での知識も非常に深いです。そのスタッフが「使える」と判断したMTは、必ずしも業界で「使える」とは言えないでしょう。

PE担当者の性格も考慮すべきです。大幅に書き換えが必要であっても、コツコツ日々の業務をこなす性格の弊社スタッフならそれでも「使える」と判断するかもしれません。

逆に私のような「超短気」の人間なら「使えない」と判断するでしょう。それに「使えない」と判断したとしたら、それはその人の技能の問題かもしれません。

ですから「このMTは使えない」と他人が評価しても、それが自分の評価と一致するかどうかは分かりません。

現在市場で販売されているMTは、弊社の基準で判断すれば、どのMTであっても「使えます」。

So, if someone evaluates that this MT is not usable, you will not know if it is the same as your rating.

At least any MT currently on the market is "useable" based on our assessment.
